Liberty Riders Patch

Liberty Riders, is a ride group/motorcycle ministry of Thomas Road Baptist Church. We have 3 purposes:
     1) We’re a ride group . . . we get together as a group and go for rides to enjoy fellowship with each other, and to enjoy some of God’s great creation.
     2) We do outreach ministry . . . we co-sponsor with TRBC various outreach events (see below).
     3) We teach, train and equip . . . we have biker style classes available to help you learn more about God and about motorcycling (also see below).

So, no matter what kind of bike, trike or hack you may ride; no matter how colorful your background may be; no matter what patch you may or may not wear; even if you’re between bikes, that’s OK – come hook up with us.  We are here for you.  We want you to know that God loves you and so do we.  If you or someone you know is interested, then come check us out – you have nothing to lose.  We think you’ll be glad you did.

Biker Bible Study -
Sunday mornings at 9:30.  We get together to share our love for God, and our love for riding.  We have a great time of study in God’s Word, and the fellowship – well, we do get a little loud and rowdy with laughter sometimes (just ask the teacher next door).  But that’s OK, just be yourself, come as you are, wear your jeans and leathers, and ride your bike.  We even have bike parking.  Oh yeah, you might want to stick around, because if time and weather permit, the Liberty Riders just might go for a lunch ride after the 11:00 service.

Motorcycling Class -
Wednesday nights at 6:15 (call TRBC for dates and times).  This is not a training course; rather it’s an informational class covering a range of practical motorcycle related topics from the history of motorcycles, to riding safety, to how to keep your bike in good operating condition, and a whole lot more.  So, if you are interested in learning more about motorcycling, whether you ride a bike or not, come and check us out.

Liberty Riders seeks to reach out to, and ride with, anyone who likes motorcycles.  It doesn’t matter whether you belong to a motorcycle club, group or organization, or whether you wear a back patch or not, you are always welcome to ride with us – even in your car.  Sometimes we’ll take a ride just to go get something to eat.  Sometimes we’ll go to a run or a rally; and at other times, we’ll help to put on a motorcycle outreach event at TRBC.  So with that in mind, come check us out, have some fun, serve with us, and discover for yourself that you are welcomed, and loved, just as you are.

Now if you would, please take a moment and check out the basic calendar below, for some of the motorcycle rides and events planned throughout the year at TRBC.  Who knows, there may be something there that rings your bell:

Liberty Riders Bike & Rider Blessing
Start the ride season off right with a traditional Bike Blessing held in the spring.

Thunder On The Mountain
Held in late June or early July, in conjunction with Celebrate America, this community wide event commemorates our independence.  Thousands are drawn to this event each year, where there’s great fun for the whole family.  We have a group motorcycle ride to Williams Stadium where we get to parade our bikes down inside the stadium, and make a lot of thunder on the mountain.  It’s very cool.  There are several vendors, lots of food, and a huge program of music and celebration, culminating in the largest display of fireworks in central Virginia.  You’ll want to mark your calendar for this one!

The “Doc” Falwell Memorial Toy Run
Held in December, this toy run is held to honor our friend and Pastor, Jerry “Doc” Falwell for all he did to help the children in the community.  There’s a group ride to where the toys will be collected, and if you want, you can help to distribute the toys right there to a lot of needy children, who would otherwise not be able to enjoy Christmas.  It’s a HUGE blessing for everyone.

Other Rides –
There are many other opportunities to ride.  Sometimes, we might ride to some event in the area.  In either case, weather and time permitting, staging begins in front of the church building at 12:30pm, and the ride rolls out at 1:00pm.  It’s always an easy and enjoyable ride, and a GREAT time of fellowship.

PLEASE NOTE:
Be sure to check the special events calendar on this web site for the exact dates and times of other events, which may also include a ride or something - just for fun..

Does this kind of fellowship/ministry interest you?  Would you like to be a part of it?  Do you think God is leading you to become involved?  If so, then please let us know.  We would love to hook up with you.  Until then; ‘Keep the rubber side down, the shiny side up, and the tach in the black.’
